2021 Nissan Altima vs 2020 Nissan Altima | San Antonio TX
Despite the continuing popularity rise of the crossover, the four-door midsize sedan segment remains strong, and it is thanks in large part to the Altima. Nissan introduced the sixth Altima generation for the 2019 model year, which Car and Driver magazine selected as an Editors’ Choice. Despite being one of the automaker’s best-selling vehicles, Nissan decided to take some chances: a more modern aesthetic inside and out, a more powerful turbocharged engine and one of the few vehicles in the class to offer all-wheel drive. Those bold updates resulted in a smash hit. Nissan followed it up with the 2020 Nissan Altima, which got more driver assistance tech for the base model—both standard and available. With the 2021 Nissan Altima, now available at Ancira Nissan serving San Antonio Boerne New Braunfels Texas, Nissan has added even more standard equipment and made the S and SV trims more affordable!
Exterior – Nissan Dealer serving San Antonio TX
Not much has changed when comparing the 2021 Nissan Altima vs 2020 Nissan Altima exterior. The Altima is a midsize sedan with a 111.2-inch wheelbase that measures 192.9 inches in overall length. Width, height and minimum ground clearance are 72.9, 56.8 and 5.1 inches, respectively. Nissan continues to offer the same five trim levels—S, SR, SV, SL and Platinum—all of which are available at our dealership serving San Antonio Boerne New Braunfels Texas. The base model is well equipped and includes 16-inch steel wheels, keyless entry and remote engine ignition. Options include LED headlamps, 17-inch alloy wheels, 19-inch wheels and heated side mirrors. The SR is the sporty edition of the Altima, and it has a number of visual enhancements not found on the other trim levels.
The 2021 model year interior has not changed much compared to the 2020 Nissan Altima, but it is an impressive step over the previous generation. Materials do vary from trim to trim, but even the base interior is a stunning step forward from the outgoing generation. At all trim levels, the Altima has two rows, seats up to five and offers about 99 cubic feet of overall passenger volume. Front legroom is considerable at almost 44 inches, and more than 35 inches of rear legroom ensure that even larger adults seated in the rear should enjoy the ride. The trunk is also excellent for the class offering more than 15 cubes of storage, which Car and Driver estimates is enough for 17 carry-ons.
Nissan Altima Mechanical specs
Nissan carries over the same base powertrain from the previous year: a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 188 horsepower and 180 pound-feet of torque. It is mated to a continuously variable transmission that distributes power to the front wheels. You can opt for an all-wheel-drive CVT on the SV, SR and SL, which lowers output to 182 hp and 178 lb.-ft. With the SR, Nissan also offers a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder mated to a front-wheel-drive CVT. This engine makes 236 hp and 267 lb.-ft. with standard fuel and 248 hp and 273 lb.-ft. with 93 octane gasoline.
Safety – 2021 Nissan Altima dealer
The new Altima has not been crash-tested as of this comparison. However, the 2020 Nissan Altima is an IIHS Top Safety Pick and was rated five stars by the NHTSA. Since there have been no fundamental changes, we expect similar success again. Standard driver assistance technologies have been expanded: forward collision detection and warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning and driver attention warning. With the base model, you can also now opt for a Driver Assist group that adds blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, rear automatic braking and rear parking sensors. With the SV trim level, you can opt for the SV Premium Package that adds adaptive cruise control and lane keeping assist. SL adds navigation, and Platinum adds a 360-degree camera system.
